Optional installer hardware survey

Windows 11 Codec Pack 4.0.1 offers hardware sharing on the finish page. The checkbox is selected by default; clear it to skip submission, or use the preview link before Finish. Viewing the preview does not send the information.

The report includes the pack version, Windows build and architecture, CPU, graphics model and driver, audio device and configured channel layout, and detected decoding capabilities. It is sent over HTTPS to labs.mediaplayercodecpack.com. The survey database retains monthly aggregate counts, not individual submission records or a persistent device identifier. Names, email addresses, computer names and serial numbers are not requested. The receiving server necessarily handles the connection’s IP address; server and security logging are separate from the survey database.

Sharing is optional and is not required for installation or playback. The installer uses the shared helper for this one-time submission rather than installing a recurring survey service.
